What fails its inspection
Great Britain's MOT record for the 2020 4.0 petrol. 24 of 313 tests failed, 8%.
Better than 58% of 2020 cars. The typical one fails 8%, across 906 models with enough tests behind them to say.
| Where | Share of failures | Failed tests |
|---|---|---|
| Tyres and wheels | 54% | 13 |
| Plates and identity | 33% | 8 |
| Brakes | 13% | 3 |
| Exhaust and emissions | 8% | 2 |
| Body and structure | 4% | 1 |
| Lights and electrics | 4% | 1 |
The defects inspectors cite
- Number plate does not conform to the specified requirements
- A tyre seriously damaged
- Tyre tread depth not in accordance with the requirements
- A tyre pressure monitoring system malfunctioning or obviously inoperative
- A wheel with a loose or missing wheel nut, bolt or stud
- Brake lining or pad worn down to wear indicator
Where it stands out against its peers
- Plates and identity: failed more often than 98% of 2020 cars — 33% of its 24 failed tests, where an ordinary 2020 car has 3%.
Same model year only, at least 30 peer cars, zeros included. Every car has a worst part; this shows which, and how far from ordinary it is. A high share means more to check, not a verdict.
NHTSA's investigations are American; no European regulator publishes an equivalent record, so this section has nothing to draw on for a European car. There is no European equivalent of the service-bulletin register either.

Recalls
Filed by the manufacturer with a regulator. A recall is repaired free of charge, whoever owns the car now.
SR/04433/25
The high-pressure fuel pump may not be correctly affixed to the cylinder head. As a result, the connection between the pump and the fuel pipes may not be properly sealed. This may result in a fuel leakage, which could originate a fire. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
