About this model

The manufacturer has told owners of one of these to stop driving until the repair is done.
- The structure of the airbag could rupture if it deploys, leading to fragmentation of the airbag parts. These small parts could be projected towards the driver/occupants, potentially causing serious or even fatal injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
What fails its inspection
Great Britain's MOT record for the 2020 2.0 petrol. 26 of 577 tests failed, 5%.
Better than 89% of 2020 cars. The typical one fails 8%, across 906 models with enough tests behind them to say.
| Where | Share of failures | Failed tests |
|---|---|---|
| Exhaust and emissions | 23% | 6 |
| Body and structure | 19% | 5 |
| Brakes | 19% | 5 |
| Lights and electrics | 19% | 5 |
| Tyres and wheels | 19% | 5 |
| Seat belts and airbags | 12% | 3 |
The defects inspectors cite
- Lambda coefficient outside the default limits or the range specified by the manufacturer
- A rear registration plate lamp or light source missing or inoperative in the case of a single lamp or all lamps
- A transmission shaft constant velocity joint boot missing or no longer prevents the ingress of dirt etc
- A tyre pressure monitoring system malfunctioning or obviously inoperative
- An obligatory rear fog lamp missing, or a front or rear fog lamp inoperative or in the case of a multiple light source more than 1/2 not functioning
- Engine MIL illuminated indicating a malfunction
Where it stands out against its peers
- Exhaust and emissions: failed more often than 94% of 2020 cars — 23% of its 26 failed tests, where an ordinary 2020 car has 5%.
- Body and structure: failed more often than 98% of 2020 cars — 19% of its 26 failed tests, where an ordinary 2020 car has 2%.
Same model year only, at least 30 peer cars, zeros included. Every car has a worst part; this shows which, and how far from ordinary it is. A high share means more to check, not a verdict.
NHTSA's investigations are American; no European regulator publishes an equivalent record, so this section has nothing to draw on for a European car. There is no European equivalent of the service-bulletin register either.

When it starts failing
At 40–60k miles this one fails 9% of its inspections, against the 13% an ordinary car of the same age fails.
| Odometer | Failure rate | Rate | Its age | Tests |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0–20k miles | 4% | 5% | 282 | |
| 20–40k miles | 5% | 10% | 249 | |
| 40–60k miles | 9% | 13% | 44 |
575 British inspections, grouped by the odometer reading recorded at the test.
Half of these have more than 20k miles on them. That is how far people drive this car, not how long it lasts.

The structure of the airbag could rupture if it deploys, leading to fragmentation of the airbag parts. These small parts could be projected towards the driver/occupants, potentially causing serious or even fatal injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.

The brake system module may contain a software error. This could result in insufficient brake assist in the event of emergency braking, increasing the risk of an accident.
Recall of the product from end users
A12/01336/21
The clutch pressure plate may be defective. This could lead to the loss of power transmission and to increased risk of fire.
Recall of the product from end users
A12/01431/21
The clutch pressure plate cannot permanently withstand the mechanical loads. This could lead to the loss of power transmission and to increased risk of fire.Furthermore, a hydraulic hose on the gearbox may leak.
Recall of the product from end users
A12/01678/21
The clutch pressure plate may overheat, resulting in an increased risk of fire. The product does not comply with the requirements laid down in the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of Motor Vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
Recall of the product from end users
A12/01683/21
The plug-in coupling of the fuel line may rupture. This can result in the uncontrolled penetration of petrol into the engine compartment and cause a vehicle fire, increasing the risk of injury to persons inside and outside the vehicle and a risk of damage to property. The product does not comply with the requirements laid down in the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of Motor Vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
Recall of the product from end users
A12/03688/24
Friction can cause the clutch pressure plate to overheat, which can lead the pressure plate to break unexpectedly. The breaking of a pressure plate can form cracks or holes in the transmission housing, from which heated debris can escape. Heated debris expelled from the transmission mounting can come into contact with a source of ignition in the vehicle or in the surroundings, which can cause a fire. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
Recall of the product from end users
A12/0621/17
A fault in the gas generator of the front passenger airbag may cause uncontrolled inflation when the airbag is activated and result in small metal particles being released, which might injure the occupants.
