About this model
The Nissan Sunny is an automobile built by the Japanese automaker Nissan from 1966 until 2004. In the early 1980s, the brand changed from Datsun to Nissan in line with other models by the company. Although production of the Sunny in Japan ended in 2004, the name remains in use in China and GCC countries for a rebadged version of the Nissan Almera.

What fails its inspection
Great Britain's MOT record for the 1995 1.4 petrol. 27 of 75 tests failed, 36%.
Better than 2% of 1995 cars. The typical one fails 25%, across 145 models with enough tests behind them to say.
| Where | Share of failures | Failed tests |
|---|---|---|
| Body and structure | 44% | 12 |
| Suspension | 41% | 11 |
| Brakes | 30% | 8 |
| Visibility | 30% | 8 |
| Lights and electrics | 26% | 7 |
| Tyres and wheels | 11% | 3 |
The defects inspectors cite
- The strength or continuity of the load bearing structure within 30cm of any sub-frame, spring or suspension component mounting (a 'prescribed area') is significantly reduced or inadequately repaired
- A transmission shaft constant velocity joint boot missing or no longer prevents the ingress of dirt etc
- Significant brake effort recorded with no brake applied indicating a binding brake
- Windscreen washers not working or not providing sufficient fluid to clear the windscreen
- A shock absorber damaged to the extent that it does not function or showing signs of severe leakage
- A suspension component excessively damaged or corroded
