About this model
The Peugeot 2008 is a subcompact SUV (B-segment) produced by the French automaker Peugeot. Unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and positioned below the 3008, the first 2008 replaced the Peugeot 207 SW, as Peugeot did not release a station wagon version of its 208.

What fails its inspection
Great Britain's MOT record for the 2018 1.2 petrol. 1,619 of 15,269 tests failed, 11%.
Better than 46% of 2018 cars. The typical one fails 10%, across 966 models with enough tests behind them to say.
| Where | Share of failures | Failed tests |
|---|---|---|
| Lights and electrics | 31% | 509 |
| Tyres and wheels | 31% | 505 |
| Brakes | 27% | 440 |
| Body and structure | 22% | 354 |
| Visibility | 10% | 157 |
| Exhaust and emissions | 7% | 116 |
The defects inspectors cite
- A transmission shaft constant velocity joint boot missing or no longer prevents the ingress of dirt etc
- A rear registration plate lamp or light source missing or inoperative in the case of a single lamp or all lamps
- A brake lining or pad worn below 1.5mm
- A tyre seriously damaged
- Tyre tread depth not in accordance with the requirements
- Brake disc or drum significantly and obviously worn
Where it stands out against its peers
- Body and structure: failed more often than 97% of 2018 cars — 22% of its 1,619 failed tests, where an ordinary 2018 car has 3%.
Same model year only, at least 30 peer cars, zeros included. Every car has a worst part; this shows which, and how far from ordinary it is. A high share means more to check, not a verdict.
NHTSA's investigations are American; no European regulator publishes an equivalent record, so this section has nothing to draw on for a European car. There is no European equivalent of the service-bulletin register either.

When it starts failing
At 80–100k miles this one fails 17% of its inspections, against the 15% an ordinary car of the same age fails.
| Odometer | Failure rate | Rate | Its age | Tests |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0–20k miles | 5% | 6% | 2,674 | |
| 20–40k miles | 10% | 9% | 8,150 | |
| 40–60k miles | 15% | 12% | 3,718 | |
| 60–80k miles | 17% | 14% | 616 | |
| 80–100k miles | 17% | 15% | 89 |
15,247 British inspections, grouped by the odometer reading recorded at the test.
Half of these have more than 20k miles on them. That is how far people drive this car, not how long it lasts.

Recalls
Filed by the manufacturer with a regulator. A recall is repaired free of charge, whoever owns the car now.

The AdBlue injector may become blocked. This could result in higher NOx emissions that may exceed the legal limits.
Recall of the product from end users
A11/00077/23
The lubrication of the vacuum pump may be insufficient and this can cause it to break, which in turn can lead to reduced braking assistance, creating a risk of an accident. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
Recall of the product from end users
A12/00570/22
The open circuit detecting system on the high voltage circuit may be over-sensitive and could unnecessarily cut off the electric current. As a result, the vehicle may lose power during driving, increasing the risk of an accident. Moreover, it could be impossible to restart or move the vehicle for several minutes. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.

A software error in the engine control unit prevents the malfunction indicator light (MIL) from switching on if the urea injector stops working. This can lead to higher emissions and poses a risk to the environment. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
Recall of the product from end users
