About this model
The Citroën Berlingo and Peugeot Partner are a range of minivans produced since 1996 and marketed under the Citroën and Peugeot marque. They are sold as light commercial vehicles or as a passenger multi-purpose-vehicle variant with rear seats and windows. They were a product of the French PSA Group before it became part of Stellantis in 2021. The third generation is sold under the Opel and Vauxhall marques as the Combo, by Toyota as the Proace City since 2019, and by Fiat as the Doblò since 2022.

What fails its inspection
Great Britain's MOT record for the 2014 1.6 diesel. 4,242 of 18,659 tests failed, 23%.
Better than 18% of 2014 cars. The typical one fails 17%, across 870 models with enough tests behind them to say.
| Where | Share of failures | Failed tests |
|---|---|---|
| Lights and electrics | 53% | 2,259 |
| Suspension | 43% | 1,841 |
| Body and structure | 24% | 999 |
| Brakes | 23% | 969 |
| Tyres and wheels | 22% | 913 |
| Visibility | 19% | 823 |
The defects inspectors cite
- A spring or spring component fractured or seriously weakened
- A lamp missing, inoperative or in the case of a multiple light source more than 1/2 not functioning
- A transmission shaft constant velocity joint boot missing or no longer prevents the ingress of dirt etc
- Stop lamp missing, inoperative or in the case of a multiple light source more than 1/2 not functioning
- A suspension pin, bush or joint excessively worn
- Tyre tread depth not in accordance with the requirements
Where it stands out against its peers
- Lights and electrics: failed more often than 97% of 2014 cars — 53% of its 4,242 failed tests, where an ordinary 2014 car has 25%.
- Body and structure: failed more often than 91% of 2014 cars — 24% of its 4,242 failed tests, where an ordinary 2014 car has 6%.
Same model year only, at least 30 peer cars, zeros included. Every car has a worst part; this shows which, and how far from ordinary it is. A high share means more to check, not a verdict.
NHTSA's investigations are American; no European regulator publishes an equivalent record, so this section has nothing to draw on for a European car. There is no European equivalent of the service-bulletin register either.

Half of these have more than 80k miles on them. That is how far people drive this car, not how long it lasts.

Recalls
Filed by the manufacturer with a regulator. A recall is repaired free of charge, whoever owns the car now.
A11/00077/23
The lubrication of the vacuum pump may be insufficient and this can cause it to break, which in turn can lead to reduced braking assistance, creating a risk of an accident. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
Recall of the product from end users

The electrical supply to and software for the additional heating is not correctly designed and the heater can shut off too soon when the vehicle is switched off. This can lead to fuel remaining in the heater, producing smoke and fuel leaks increasing the risk of fire. The product does not comply with the requirements laid down in the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
