What fails its inspection
Great Britain's MOT record for the 2006 2.5 diesel. 254 of 1,141 tests failed, 22%.
Better than 76% of 2006 cars. The typical one fails 27%, across 889 models with enough tests behind them to say.
| Where | Share of failures | Failed tests |
|---|---|---|
| Suspension | 50% | 128 |
| Lights and electrics | 41% | 105 |
| Brakes | 38% | 96 |

The defects inspectors cite
- The strength or continuity of the load bearing structure within 30cm of any sub-frame, spring or suspension component mounting (a 'prescribed area') is significantly reduced or inadequately repaired
- A suspension pin, bush or joint excessively worn
- Brake pipe damaged or excessively corroded
- A lamp missing, inoperative or in the case of a multiple light source more than 1/2 not functioning
- Stop lamp missing, inoperative or in the case of a multiple light source more than 1/2 not functioning
- Wiper blade missing or obviously not clearing the windscreen
